For Elizondo, this victory marks an important step in his development as a coffee professional, as it was the first time he put his skills to the test on stage in front of judges.
His presentation stood out for his technical mastery and his skill in preparing the drink using various methods. “My inspiration came from wanting to step outside my comfort zone, leave all my fears behind, and show my passion,” he added.

For the barista, this achievement is also deeply rooted in the identity of the Arazú brand, which pays tribute to our homeland. The coffee used was the SL-28 variety, grown at the CoopeTarrazú coffee farm.
“For me, Arazú is a brand that embodies CoopeTarrazú’s significant efforts toward environmental and sustainability best practices, which aim to produce a perfect, flawless cup of coffee. It also highlights the importance of Tarrazú as a leading coffee-growing region,” explained Elizondo.
This marks the third time that representatives from CoopeTarrazú have competed in barista competitions, and they have taken first place every time. The experienced barista, Jeremy Chaves, has served as the instructor and mentor for these young coffee talents.
